I am holding judgement on this.

This is my analogy. If I wanted data on my car and was told buy to buy a device, I would xx months free but there would be subscription after it would not seem that out of the ordinary. If I was then told that I would get rewards that could possibly offset my subscription fee that would be great. I am still getting the value out of the app that I may have paid for otherwise.

I see this as DIMO trying to get the web2 crowd who does not care about tokens. If they can drive enough new users this could trickle down to the token price? I don’t have it all figured out, but I do believe this could turn out ok.

  1. When you bought your device the website said that connectivity would be provided for 1 year (autopi), 2 years (r1), or 3 years (macaron). That will be honored. That implies it's not free after that time.
